We love buddy reading

On Fridays we have buddy reading with our buddy class, Room 15.  The Year 6 children are great reading buddies, patient and encouraging.  In Room 1 we have been coming up with some ideas about what makes good buddy reading; here they are:

When I read with my buddy:
- I choose a sensible place to sit.
- I sit close to my buddy.
- I use a quiet voice.
- If my buddy is stuck I give them time to think.  Then I can help them.

We like buddy reading so much that we have started doing it in our own class too.

Greedy Cat

This week we have been reading Greedy Cat for our big book.  On Friday Room 1 wrote some fantastic stories about Greedy Cat and made big Greedy Cats with crayon, paint and black marker pens.  Enjoy the stories and artwork!

EOTC Week

We had a wonderful EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) week a few weeks ago.  It started with the launch of our school bike track.
Then we had a school walk around the neighbourhood to look at the changes that have been happening.  This fits in with our Inquiry theme of 'change.'

After some great days of doing outdoor games with our buddy class and looking after the school environment by picking up rubbish, we headed off to Jellicoe Pool for the day.

It was great to see the children's confidence in the water after spending the term swimming almost every day.
