Planting a kowhai tree

Today we planted a Kowhai tree with Brian.  It is only little at the moment but I wonder how big it will be when these Year 1 and 2 children are in Year 6!

Here are some stories the children wrote about the experience:

Today we planted a kowhai tree.  Kowhai in Maori means yellow.  Seralia was hammering.  'Ifalemi, Benhur and Abdul watered.  I saw Xavier hammering the stake.
- Lefine

Today we planted a kowhai tree with Brian.  Seralia was having a hammer.  'Ifalemi, Benhur and Abdul watered it.  It was very fun.  All of us had so much fun.  I liked it as well.
- Loupua

Today we planted a kowhai tree with Brian.  Benhur, 'Ifalemi and Abdul watered it.  Seralia hammered the stick called the stake.  Brian put the string on the tree.
- Adnah

Brian smashed the stake.  Brian hammered the stake.  Abdul planted the kowhai tree.
- Leonzay

We made a tree.  We put water in the kowhai tree.  The tree was cool.  I like the tree.  I looked at Abdul.  I looked at the tree.  'Ifalemi and Benhur watered it.
